Franklin University Partners with Ohio Society of CPAs To Provide Continuing Education Requirement Training

Franklin University is proud to announce its partnership with the Ohio Society of CPAs ("OSCPA"). Through today's announcement, nearly 220 years of expertise in education and training are united to advance the accounting profession throughout Ohio.

With projected job growth of 10% between 2018 to 2029 (Source: Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI)), staying in line with and ahead of training needs is of paramount importance for organizations such as OSCPA. To provide an updated experience that more effectively positions emerging accounting professionals to capitalize on industry growth potential, OSCPA and Franklin University's International Institute for Innovative Instruction ("The Institute") have partnered to develop online training modules for members located across the state.

“The opportunity to partner with OSCPA to design and develop self-paced leadership and soft-skill trainings exemplifies our commitment to the community around lifelong learning and workforce development,” shared Dr. Patrick Bennett, vice president, Academic Quality & Planning, and dean, School of Education, Franklin University.

The partnership combines OSCPA-developed module topics and outcomes with Franklin University-developed templates, content, narration, and exam questions to produce online training components that satisfy continuing education requirements. The new training consists of 10, one- and two-hour online modules that address continuing education requirements in general business and technical accounting skills.

“This effort is one part of the answer to our overall talent management strategy for the profession,” said OSCPA President & CEO Scott Wiley, CAE. “We need to keep our talent level high while ensuring that accounting stays relevant and maintains its reputation as one of the most trustworthy professions. This program provides learning in the areas those in the profession tell us are essential, entry-level competencies for accounting professionals – but yet that are not now covered in accounting program curricula.”
Continuing education requirements reflect changing industry needs. Therefore, it is of paramount importance for organizations such as OSCPA to provide members with training that reflects contemporary standards.
