Columbus, OH (February 18, 2020)

Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, is pleased to announce the expansion of its educational partnership with the City of Columbus by extending education benefits to the spouses and dependent children of city employees.

The City and Franklin University entered into its partnership in 2017 as a way to demonstrate its commitment to developing a well-trained workforce. Through this announcement, the City demonstrates a commitment to the economic prosperity of the region.

Following the benefits provided in the original educational partnership, the newly added spouses and dependent children of City employees will have access to a book benefit and a tuition discount from a variety of Franklin University's academic offerings including a master's degree in Public Administration, bachelor's degrees in Public Administration or Public Safety Management & Leadership or associate degrees in Criminal Justice and Health Services.

As a leader in adult education, Franklin University understands that balancing the need to stay current, along with going back to school, takes planning, commitment, and sacrifices. Through Franklin's online programs, employees, spouses, and dependent children of the City of Columbus can take classes on their schedule to continue their education to make themselves a current and relevant asset to the region's economic advancement. Providing an additional benefit, the Franklin faculty that teach these courses are academically credentialed and come from the field, providing a differentiator among other institutions of higher education.

"As a member of the Columbus community for more than 115 years, we are proud to be a continuing resource for students to continue their education," said Dr. David Decker, President, Franklin University. "Through this partnership extension with the City of Columbus, we can add to the development of its employees and their families, with the added benefit of preparing an expanded workforce to lead our City and potentially the region forward."
